We are having a summer with high humidity, high pool use and constant rain, necessitating it to take care and maintain your outside poolside furniture on a regular basis to ensure its longevity and appeal.

Outdoor poolside furniture also reflects your place’s hygiene level and lifestyle. Therefore, it is mandatory that you take proper care of your poolside outdoors, especially in peak seasons of summer and spring. Here are some cleaning and maintenance tips.

Cleaning & Maintaining Furniture

  1. You should always read carefully the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning process. To understand, assume that your pool furniture is made up of aluminum straps. The best treatment for outdoor poolside furniture made from aluminum, is the solution of water and vinegar. Make a solution containing 50 percent vinegar and 50 percent lukewarm water. Either spray or make splashes of it onto your furniture surfaces and wipe off with a soft cotton towel or cloth. It takes all the grime away. Also, polish the aluminum made furniture parts and surfaces with a non-abrasive light car wax gently. Polishing makes cleaning easier for the next time and also helps protect the furniture from weather conditions.
  2. Most of the poolside furniture respond well to cleaning with powder washer and/or mild soap. Scrub your furniture with a soft bristle brush soaked into soap/water solution. Then just hose the surfaces with fresh water and let them dry.
  3. Since pool side involves heavy usage of water, moisture may lead to mold. For the areas having mold, ask your manufacturer and if they give you approval, you can do cleaning with a solution containing 1/3 bleach and 2/3 water. Spray the solution all over the areas suspected to mold’s presence. Then leave it for few minutes. Wash with garden hose and let the furniture dry under sun. Sunlight also helps to kill mold.
